Type Locality and Naming

By the Yatavlyk River, right tributary of the Aksu River, Zarafshan-Gissar mountain region, basin of the Kashkadarya River. A.I.Kim, M.V.Erina, 1984 (228, pp.25-28). Stratotype in the Yatavlyuk River.

Synonym: Yatavlukskaya Suite, Ятавлукская св., Akbasy Fm; Yatavlyk Fm, Yatavlyuk Fm


Lithology and Thickness

Lower part of the suite - siltstone-aphanitic, detrital-siltstone thin-bedded, locally stromatolitic limestones. Upper part - rhythmically alternating siltstone-aphanitic and detrital-siltstone thick-bedded and massive limestones with interlayers of clayey material and cherts. Thickness 490-620m.


Lithology Pattern: 
Shallow-marine marl


Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Lower boundary conformable with the Raisak Fm (Raikazak Fm)

Upper contact

Upper boundary established not everywhere due to tectonics. According to I.M. Nigmadzhanov, the Yatavluk Fm conformably overlain by the Novchomok Fm.
